Central Reform Temple is deeply committed to the Jewish principle of Tikkun Olam, “the healing, repair and transformation of our world.” We reach out to the broader community with volunteer opportunities for active involvement in the work for justice and peace. Since 2009, the Maurice Tobin K-8 Boston Public School in Mission Hill has been our primary Social Action partner, involving outreach activities throughout the year.
Celebrate Chanukah’s Continuing Light with a Gift for Tobin School Students
As part of our Temple’s ongoing partnership of support for Tobin K-8 Boston Public School, our CRT Tobin School Chanukah Fund has assisted many families in need of winter clothing for their children. Thanks to the generosity of temple members, our collections provide clothing for many K-8th grade students who were
identified by school staff. Our Holiday Campaign for our friends at Tobin closes in late January and funds are presented to Principal Toledano in February. Please consider a donation to honor or remember family or friends.
Those honored by congregants – in whose name the donations are made – will receive a CRT letter explaining this annual holiday effort to assist our local public school partner with the gift of winter school uniforms. Tobin Principal Toledano, staff and students send their thanks to CRT for the continuation of the clothing program and for all of our Social Action outreach to their school in Mission Hill.
Please send checks to our 15 Newbury Street address or make your donation
online at our website.
CRT Social Action at the Tobin School
Thanks to our temple team at the 9th Annual Tobin School Clean-Up for their work cleaning and planting on May 20 in Mission Hill. Led by Tannus Schlam and Larry Peters, our enthusiastic volunteers enhanced the outdoor spaces for the school and local community, participating in this meaningful and fun day of Tikkun Olam.
